Fairmont Police Chief Greg Brolsma said, “The Fairmont Police Department had intended that the public notification meeting scheduled for 11/30/09 coincide with registered predatory offender John Wesley Cox’s release on that date.  Due to this unforeseen development, Mr. Cox will be residing in Fairmont prior to the public notification meeting which is unfortunate, but unpreventable.  Unlike prior level 3 offenders released into the Fairmont area, Mr. Cox is under intensive supervised released condition with strict monitoring by several probation agents.”  A public fact sheet pertaining to John Wesley Cox is available for viewing at the Fairmont Police Department website at www.fairmontpolice.org under the heading, “Level III offenders.”

The public notification meeting regarding John Wesley Cox will still take place as scheduled. The meeting will be in the basement meeting room at the Martin County Library (110 N Park Street, Fairmont, MN 56031) on November 30th, 2009 at 6:30 pm.  There will be representatives at the meeting from the Fairmont Police Department, Minnesota Department of Corrections, Martin County Attorney’s Office, and Intensive Supervision Probation Department to provide information on this offender and answer questions.  All citizens interesting in learning more about this offender and his release are welcome to attend
